Seven Principles

“The customer is profit, everything else is overhead.”

We are a part of the VTV group of companies.  Founded in 1943, by the legendary VTV Deivanayagam Pillai, the group has extensive business interests in the South Asian region.  Eswaran Brothers was founded in 1963 by his son D. Eassuwaren to export Ceylon teas and spices.  From humble beginnings, the company has developed into one of the leading tea companies in the region, a conglomerate with many industry leading companies.

The legendary VTV Deivanayagam Pillai was born in 1919 in South India.  Orphaned at the age of 12, he moved to then colonial Ceylon and began his working life as a shop boy.  From such a beginning, through honesty, ethics, hard work and spirituality became the leader of one of the most respected trading houses in Sri Lanka.

We never give up. We will keep search for and acquire new levels of excellence and quality. We will always approach a world filled with opportunities with fresh perspectives and determination.

Forms the backbone of who we are. No job is too difficult, we will succeed together through hard work. We can and we will succeed.

Whatever we do will conform to the best ethical practises. Our founder based his entire life on this value above all else and we will uphold it come what may.

We have the courage to do what is right. The courage to be different. The courage to take risks. And the courage to uphold our values.

We don’t want customers and employees and suppliers, we want relationships. We love our tea and that is why we are passionate. We love the pleasure we get when our tea is enjoyed. With the same passion, we will work for our communities and our environment.

We will always reflect on ourselves and our actions at all times. We will show patience and prudence in all our actions.

We believe that there is more to life than material gain. We will grow not just in knowledge but also in spirituality.
