Green Tea


There are three main varieties of tea -- green, black, and oolong. The difference between the teas is in their processing. Green tea is made from unfermented leaves and reportedly contains the highest concentration of powerful antioxidants called polyphenols. Therefore it is noted that green tea has many health benefits.

Gun Powder      
Gunpowder tea, which is more appropriately called "Zhu cha" in Pinyin, is also commonly known as "pearl" tea in China. Gunpowder tea gets its name because of it's method of manufacture.  It is rolled into tiny balls resembling gunpowder pellets hence the moniker "pearl" or "bead" tea. 
   
       
       
Jasmine      
Jasmine tea is made by sprinkling jasmine flowers over green tea leaves which then absorb the flowery aroma. The fragrant blossoms are picked and mixed with the green tea according to traditional tea scenting techniques. The tea absorbs the fragrant essence of the fresh jasmine, making the pearls sweet and aromatic. Jasmine tea is said to reduce nervous tension, decrease saturated fat in the body and increase circulation. Sencha      
"Sencha" is the name of the most popular of all of the green teas in Japan.  Its name actually means "common tea" and is a staple in most Japanese households.  This green tea preferred because of its tanginess and fresh qualities complemented by a leaf of high uniformity and deep emerald hue.  Sencha was once prepared by roasting but today Sencha is steam treated before further processing with hot-air drying* and is finally pan-fried as a final step.  Sencha is also referred to as I-chi Ban Cha, or "the number one pick".
