Carbon neutral tea

Being a responsible, sustainable business is fundamental to Eswaran Brothers. It is a natural expression of the Principles that have guided us throughout our existence. As a company deeply involved in Agriculture, we witness the consequences of Climate Change on a daily basis and our recent efforts have been focused on playing our role in mitigating these effects.

Our Environmental Policy

The Eswaran Brothers team, as part of its overall sustainable business policy, is committed to protect our environment for future generations. All aspects of our activities will be focused towards minimizing our impact, and ensuring that good, sustainable practices are promoted.

We will strive to conserve natural resources throughout our value chain by training and continuously improving our processes. We will achieve these goals through adherence to, but not limited by, the ISO 14001 standards and other applicable regulatory requirements. Since implementing ISO 14001, we have made significant reductions in energy and water consumption as well as in waste generated throughout Eswaran Brothers. This represents the small steps that we have taken towards increasing the sustainability of our business. Shown below is a summary of our statistics regarding the reductions in the above mentioned aspects.

Reducing our Carbon Footprint

Eswaran Brothers achieved a major milestone in December 2010, as we became one of the first Tea companies globally and the first company in Sri Lanka to be certified Carbon Neutral. Rani Virdee, Managing Director Asia Pacific, The CarbonNeutral Company said, "Eswaran Brothers is a leading example to other businesses that implementing an offset inclusive carbon management strategy will not only help tackle climate change, but will reduce bottom line costs and enhance reputation within the marketplace."

Forest Garden Teas - Beyond Organic

The ultimate expression of Eswaran Brothers' commitment to the environment is the creation of what we expect to be the most ethical tea product in the world. Traditional tea plantations may look idyllic, but they are monocultures that tolerate little else besides the tea bush. Our tea is Forest Garden Organic, grown in a certified organic plantation which recreates the biodiversity of a rainforest. The tea grows amongst a profusion of living organisms which keep the growing crops' impact on the environment to a bare minimum.

With our partners, Conservation Carbon Company and Rainforest Rescue International , we are helping to protect Sri Lanka's forests. Hiniduma, in the southwest of Sri Lanka, is a mixed agricultural community surrounded by one of the island's last remaining rainforest ecosystems. We are working with farmers in forest-edge communities along the Kanneliya Reserve buffer zone. Together, we have instituted the Hiniduma Conservation Carbon Programme, which will grow more endemic forest trees to protect against fragmentation and eventually reverse the process of centuries of deforestation. • Ceylon Tea

Ceylon tea from Sri Lanka known as the best tea in the world has its natural unique uniqueness and reputation running through more than a century. The tea sector in Sri Lanka has always been a vital part of its economy. For over a century Ceylon Tea has been the best tea throughout the world since its unique characteristics, flavors and aromas, dependent on a myriad of climatic conditions, plantation environments and elevation.

  • Green Tea

There are three main varieties of tea, green, black, and oolong. The difference between the teas is in their processing. Green tea is made from unfermented leaves and supposedly contains the highest concentration of powerful antioxidants called polyphenols. So it is noted that green tea has many health benefits. Olinda green tea with its fragrant and delicate taste is also available in packets for those who prefer to drink green tea the traditional way.

  • Black Tea

Black tea is an esteemed classic throughout the world. Because of the fermentation process, black tea is usually richer in color, more penetrating in flavor, and has a higher percentage of caffeine compared to other teas. For those who prefer milder flavors, you can add a dash of honey, cream, or soymilk for a truly delightful sipping experience.

  • Sri lanka Tea

Tea Production in Srilanka, formerly Ceylon, is of high importance to the Sri Lankan economy and the world market. Sri lanka is the world's fourth largest exporter of tea and the industry is one of the country's main sources of foreign exchange and a significant source of income for the country.
